The conflict Alex is facing can be found on pages 130 to 132. The conflict occurs when Alex meets with Stacey and tells her that the best way to eliminate the constraints on the bottlenecks would be to cut batch sizes on all non-bottlenecks by about half. Stacey, does not see eye to eye with Alex. He explains to her that cutting the batch size would allow each part to spend less time withing the plant which would first of all allow the queue time and waiting time by half allowing for the parts to be completed faster allowing customers to get their products faster.
