Moving the Extol Machine to Assembly Nissan Carpet Sill Assembly
B: follow the orginal quote for the program
D: Follow the current operating proceedures for the welder.
A: Produce the best product possible on the machine.
C-D': | Assumption(s) | Injection(s) |
By moving the welder to assembly we will have part temperature control resulting in better control of the machine temperature. We never be moving this machine again allowing us to maintain the position settings on the machine. We will also be able to reduce the overall cooling time on the welder resulting in a cycle time reduction of 3-5 seconds. | There are times when the temperature will have to be adjusted due to variation in the material or due to the surrounding room temperature. If we have major temperature problems the heater maybe be burned out, and need replacing. There is also a chance that the Punches have gone bad, but both the heaters and punches should be replaced semi annually. |
In order to Produce the best product possible on the machine. I must follow the orginal quote for the program and in order to follow the orginal quote for the program I must Follow the current operating proceedures for the welder.. But, in order to Produce the best product possible on the machine. I must also maintain the settings on the machine and in order to maintain the settings on the machine I must move the welder to the assembly area where all the other welders are located.. I can't both Follow the current operating proceedures for the welder. and move the welder to the assembly area where all the other welders are located..
Relation | Assumption(s) | Injection(s) |
D-D' | The established quote does not give us the flexibility to do operation in assembly due to the quoted labor requirements. | We are currently running WIP due to processing constraints on our operators. Under our current conditions we create 7-8 boxes of WIP that remain in WH1. These parts take longer process as we do not have normal labor on the parts at all times. This results in parts remaining in throughput for 2-3 days longer, resulting in longer lead times to actually ship the parts. |
B-D | We had an agreement with the customer that we would only be using one operator to complete builds. | We are currently using 2 operators to complete the builds. |

A-B | following the quote keeps us in balance with the customer. | We are currently not following the quote, and we are still meeting the customer demand and expectation. Resulting in a dire need to move the machine. |
A-C | Maintaining the machine setting will result in a better part quality. | Operator error could still be possible, and the machine settings could be changed by maintenance resulting in a bad quality part. |
